Question 4: Evaluation

4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

My audience for my media product is a young and more outgoing one. In my reader profile and audience research I highlighted the clubbing lifestyle, loud music, alcohol, gigs and events etc. My aim was to show house music in a positive and exciting style, but also to show how listeners and artists are down to earth at the same time. My magazine is aimed at a young audience, specifically aged around 17-24. These age groups are the ones who tend to go out more and therefore I wanted my magazine to relate to them and educate them. My magazine is not gender specific as I highlighted that house music, but also all music in general, is for males and females. To show this I used quite a simplistic colour scheme; blacks, blues, reds, neon colours, to not disinterest anyone or put them off.

My audience would be relaxed yet party sort of people, the magazine uses quite casual language and the Mise en scene in the photographs is quite quirky and unique. I hope that my magazine highlights the idea that it is okay to be unique as generically DJ artists are male. My audience would be people who enjoy festivals and loud, outgoing styles of both music and fashion. However one main aim with my audience was that although there is the alcohol, the style and the fame, my audience would be mainly attracted for the actual magazine.

In my reader profile I included images such as red bull, monster and other popular energy drinks to highlight that my audience should be young, full of energy and ready to go. Also my reader profile background was set in a rave atmosphere, bright neon lights, and crowds of people. I want my audience to be exciting and to reflect the rave attitude. My audience would be individualists of any class or risking, aspiring for their own uniqueness.
