What's important to me in an artist?: Music Magazine

What is important to me in an artist?

Similar to…

I would like my artist/group to be similar to Calvin Harris and Swedish house Mafia; particularly Steve Angelo. Calvin Harris is both an epic producer and DJ; he has loads of amazing chart hits and has worked hard for what he has achieved. In 1999, Calvin started recording music demos in his bedroom and his past jobs before making it big included working at a fish factory in a supermarket. This shows that he’s a down to earth guy, and again worked for what he accomplished. Calvin Harris now has worked with loads of famous names including Rihanna, Rita Ora and Skrillex. Calvin has had four UK number one singles during his career. He’s also been a bit successful in the US, with singles “Summer”, “I Need Your Love”, “Sweet Nothing”, “Let’s Go” and “Feel So Close” all making the top 20. Throughout working with various artists he kept his own sound and he is not afraid to be himself.
Also I hope my artist will be similar to Swedish House Mafia,
despite the outpouring of love after they decided to split, Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso are at peace with their decision to walk away. Angello said, “I think we felt like it had become a very big machine. I think the pressure … It just wasn't having fun anymore. It was this humongous monster. We felt tired. Swedish House Mafia was never something planned, it was just like, we're three guys, let's do this and have fun and throw parties and have a blast. So we just thought, ‘You know what? Let's end this.’” This highlights that in fact they were there purely for the music; they were self-made artists and cared for the music not the fame.
